COMMUNITY AWARENESS AND CAPACITY BUILDING
Every year ‘Parivartan’ organizes various seminars/symposia to reduce stigma, increase acceptance, awareness of mental illness and to psycho-educate people on various topics pertaining to mental health. Throughout the year various programs are organized for patients, caregivers, and mental health professionals to observe special days dedicated in the field of mental health. Following are some of the events organized by the NGO in the year 2024-25.
Seminar: On 8th Oct, 2024, Dr. Shikha Tyagi led an enlightening seminar on ‘Mindful Practices’ at Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology in Punjab, aimed at MBA and MCA students. The event organized in collaboration with Paul Merchants group, received highly positive feedback from the organizers.

Sugamya Yatra: As part of its efforts to build a more inclusive and accessible city for persons with disabilities, NGO ‘Parivartan’, along with other disability-focused organizations in Chandigarh, Parivartan took part in the ‘Sugamya Yatra’ launched on 7th February 2025. During this initiative, the team carried out accessibility audits at key locations including the DC Office, Social Welfare Office, Elante Mall, SD College, and GMCH-32, among others.


Dr. B.S Chavan Memorial Lecture: NGO ‘Parivartan’ along with Mental Health Institute and Department of Psychiatry GMCH, Sector 32 celebrated “Dr B.S Memorial Rehabilitation Program” in the august presence of Director Principal Dr Ravneet Kaur, 25th March, 2026 in the loving memory of Late Professor B.S. Chavan.

Dr. B.S. Memorial Rehabilitation Programme: NGO ‘Parivartan’ along with Mental Health Institute and Department of Psychiatry, GMCH, Sector-32, celebrated “Dr B.S Memorial Rehabilitation Program” on 25th March 2025. Prof. A.K Attri, Director Principal of GMCH-32 graced the occasion as the chief guest. Dr. Manoj Kumar, Founder-Director of ‘Mental Health Action Trust (MHAT)’ gave an interactive lecture on “Community Mental Health through NGOs Also, ‘Dr. B. S Chavan Memorial Award’ including a certificate and a cash prize of Rs 25,000 was conferred to ‘MHAT’, Kerala.

Bipolar Day: On the occasion of World Bipolar Day, 29th March, 2025 NGO ‘Parivartan’ in collaboration with MHI organized ‘A wellness program for the persons with mental health conditions & then caregivers’. The program included significance of the day, Yoga session, discussion on healthy diet and nutrition, workout healthy body and mind, sleep hygiene and quiz were organized.
